About the Berkeley Friday Morning Senior Softball League

Berkeley Friday morning  Senior slow pitch league operates in Berkeley Township, NJ, and is not affiliated with the Berkeley Township Recreation Department; it is a wholly independent draft league.  The summer season has a 66-and-over age requirement (Turn 66 in the calender year), and it drops to 65-and-over in the fall season.  The league is an all-draft league for both seasons.  Players are required to register via this website and pay a registration fee.  The registration link is on this website. Notification will be posted on the website when the registration form is available.  In both the summer and fall seasons, league players play doubleheaders,  7-inning games on Friday mornings, starting at 10:00 AM.  Teams carry a roster of 15 players; each player must play a minimum of 6 innings across any combination of the two games.  Once the team quota is filled, a waiting list registration will be posted on the website.  Teams can replace players who become inactive; replacements are based on specific league criteria.   Secondary Insurance is covered by SSUSA (Senior Softball USA). The registration fee covers umpires, softballs, and secondary injury and liability insurance.   Playoffs commence after each season.  Awards are presented at the end of each season.  The league staff consists of a Commissioner, Treasurer, Webmaster, and Website assistant administrator. Umpires are supplied by Ocean County Independent Umpires Association.   OCIUA umpires are also SSUSA (Senior Softball USA)- certified, and some work for other Umpire Associations.  The majority of our umpires have 5 to 25 years of experience.    Games are played at Berkeley Township Veterans Park in Bayville. If the league has more than 5 teams, then Whispering Pines Park in Toms River, Berkeley Township, would be an added venue.
